“The Performance Is Cancelled” / “La Terre Stupide”
At the Klima Halle Tour De Lorraine, Grosse Halle, Bern. 2020.*
La Terre desires wisdom, serenity, compassion and love, but it is just beyond reach due to all the things that keep her from feeling good about herself. She begins to explore all the instances and memories where her feelings of inadequacy come from – the recurring thought-track: ‘stupide, stupide, stupide’.
She does not save herself in the end.
We slowly leave the realm of human-centered thinking. The odds of calling this planet our home. A nation, a community, or even individuals and organizations, and their roles in the eventual climate collapse that we will face if we do nothing.
In the end, the question remains – do we hold ourselves to a higher standard to act, or are we “helpless” and “ruined” from the start?
